Three out of the four retailers above are well known to pretty much everyone as they have a high street presence in the UK. However, Duvet and Pillow Warehouse are fairly new to the scene but have made a huge impact with their low prices on goose down duvets and Hungarian goose down duvets. Here are our thoughts on the four retailers that we’ve featured: Debenhams: Everyone knows who Debenhams are; they have a huge department store with products to match everyone’s budgets. They have a big High Street presence with a store in each major city and shopping outlets. Debenhams have a comprehensive collection of duvets; both natural and synthetic. The natural range comprised of goose down and duck down duvets. They also have a range of Siberian goose down duvets as well as the Hungarian variety. Debenhams have a few goose down and Hangarian goose down pillows at competitive prices but they do lack any form of toppers. Overall, the prices at Debenhams are competitive, the products are of the highest quality and they’re a huge brand so you can’t go wrong with buying your duvet (or any other product as they have a huge range of home ware, clothing, furniture etc) from Debenhams. Duvet and Pillow Warehouse: So, who are Duvet and Pillow Warehouse? Well, as mentioned above, these guys are new retailers in the ‘duvet’ market place however, they have made a huge impact with their range of products but most importantly, their pricing. From what we’ve seen, they are the most competitive online retailer for their range of products without compromising on the quality of their products. DPW source their products from the best suppliers and they’re so confident that they’re offering a 10 year guarantee on their Luxury and Ultimate goose down duvets. They’ve also invested time into research into how best to create their range of duvets. They have been specifically created with a form of casing to ensure they maximise heat retension while maintaining a light feel to the duvet. Before making your choice on where to buy your duvet, it’s definetly worth looking at Duvet and Pillow Warehouse.
House of Fraser: House of Fraser needs no introduction, they are one of Britain’s leading retailer of designer brands and one of the best known names on the UK high street. With 61 enviable locations across the country, House of Fraser has presented customers with an unrivalled national department store for more than 150 years. They have a good range of duvets with 9 duvets with natural filling (goose down or duck down) and 8 synthetic duvets. While House of Fraser do not sell any form of toppers, they do have a range of goose down pillows. While the products might be slightly expensive at House of Fraser, you can buy with confidence that you’re buying from a huge brand name.
John Lewis: John Lewis needs no introduction; they are one of the leading house hold names in the UK. For the third year running, a Which? survey has voted John Lewis as Britain’s favourite retailers (23 January 2008). In fact, John Lewis has been voted the UK’s favourite retailer in a poll of over 6000 shoppers. The Consumer Satisfaction Index 2008, carried out by retail analysts Verdict Research, asked customers to rate retailers in terms of range, price, convenience, quality, service, ambience, facilities and layout. While our price comparison model may show John Lewis to be not the most competitive on price, their products are of the highest quality so you can be assured that you’re getting what you’re paying for! Quality is a premium factor for John Lewis so if you’re spending £90 on a goose down duvet, you’ll be getting one of the best duvets available for that price. The have a good range of natural and synthetic duvets together with pillows to match. They also have some natural duvet toppers which two of the other retailers do not. The duvets are available in all the standard togs; 4.5, 7, 10.5 and 13.5 as well as in single, double, king size and super king size. When it comes to receiving your item, there are two choices; have the item delivered to your local John Lewis and you can pick it up or the item can be delivered for free! This is a major ‘one up’ on the other retailers as there’s nothing like paying an additional £5-£6 to have your item delivered.
